Welcome the New Machine
As many of you know, there has been more and more sewing in these parts of the internets. I think I can officially call myself addicted to sewing.
Say hello to my new Janome 6500 Memory Craft. This is more machine than I thought I would be getting, but what can I say, I fell in love. While this machine has something like 60 stitches and Letters, I can safely say, I promise not to use them for evil. All special stitches will be used subtly and with tact. (pinky swear)
I actually got the machine on my birthday (April 8th), so I’ve had some time to play around with it.
I made myself a much overdue new purse. The pin was made by my friend Karen with punchneedle embroidery. Check out her rug hooking and punchneedle embroidery here.
The new machine was so much easier to use, that I also started feeling confident enough to try out some more clothing. This is the first really successful piece that I’ve done on my own machine. The pattern is McCalls 5665 View A. I can’t wait to be making more of my wardrobe and exploring different fabrics.
If you are also into sewing, you may want to check out mysewingcircle.com. It’s a Ravelry type site for sewing. (Not quite as awesome, but still fun). You can find me on there as violinjodie.
Ooo, cute top! (and congrats on the machine, and a belated happy birthday, too!..oh, and pssst…I think I might be cruising your neck o’ the woods in early July. If you’re around, would love to say hi!) xo
