My Knittiverse
Slapped a temporary header up there. I was so tired of looking at the plain white, I decided anything would be better than that! Since I’m not very good at graphics and don’t really have a very good program to edit, it’s so-so. Any suggestions for a mac user who doesn’t want to shell out for photoshop?
Of course lots has been going on the knitting world over here. It never really stops does it. I seem to have gotten out of my knitting funk, and am back into the swing of things.
Talked about making these socks here. I didn’t end up finishing them in time for January SKA, but I also didn’t do a February pair (due to the Olympics). Even though these didn’t qualify them for the February challenge, I kind of consider these my February socks. As long as I end up with 12 pairs for this year, I’m good.
Pattern: March Mystery SKA 2010/Belle Vitini
Started these on March 1st, and have the first sock done. They’ll be a little big on me, but I still like them. Great pattern and quick knit!
During my spring break, I became obsessed with a new project. First I carded batts:
This has since become a Citron. It’s knit and blocked and I will have photos soon! I have enough singles to make another, so I’m now making a matching one for a friend. It’s exactly what I wanted, a bright, light, flowy shawl for spring/summer.
So that’s some of what’s been going on here. I’ve also got several designs in the works, and am hoping to be able to share some of those soon. ;)
Gimp- http://www.gimp.org/
Picnik if you’re starting with a photo rather than wanting to create something from a blank canvas – http://www.picnik.com/
Picasa, again, if you’re starting with a photo – http://picasa.google.com/mac/
Also, there’s photoshop online, but again, I don’t think it starts from a blank canvas, I think you have to start with an image that you’re editing.
I love the design of the Belle Vitini! I am going to have to save that one. It is a beautiful design.
I’m not a Mac user, so there me something better, but you could try GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/), which is basically a free, open-source Photoshop-type program. It looks like Mac isn’t officially supported, but that you can download a Mac version at http://gimp.lisanet.de/Website/Download.html.
I personally use Fireworks, but it isn’t free, unfortunately.
