Finished!

March 11, 2010

Okay, so I know everyone is over the whole knitting olympics thing now, but I did finish in time (Sunday 2/28), and I still want to show it off.

Part of the reason it’s taken me so long to post this is I just don’t have very good pictures.  So I’ve finally decided to let it go, and post my finishing pictures either way.  I’ll post better ones when I get my zipper in.

If you can’t tell, I sewed myself into the sweater with a circular knitting needle.  I also didn’t count the zipper as finished since I couldn’t even get it until knitting was done.

The back of the sweater.  See why I call it the booty sweater?  It’s all about the womanly curves!

The hood is a little small, but I love the detail on it.  I’m never going to wear the hood up anyway, so it doesn’t bother me.  So here is the whole knitting olympic thing in a nutshell for me.

Things I’m Happy About

  • I finished a sweater! I can’t believe I did it in such a short time.  Definitely a record for me.
  • Did I mention I finished a sweater!
  • I love the cables and details on this sweater.  Can’t imagine using a cable needle for this project, and so glad I didn’t have to.
  • I’ve gotten really good at ripping back and fixing a cable section.  I did this at least 5 -15 rows back about 10 times.  There will be a post about this in the future.

Things I Wish went Differently:

  • I wish I understood kitchener in pattern a little better.  My hood’s graft isn’t as clean as I would like it.
  • I wish it was just a little bit bigger.  This sweater is definitely zero ease on me, and I think I would wear it more if it was just a little larger.

Overall, the knitting olympics were a great challenge and experience.  Can’t wait for 2014!

Wow, what a fantastic achievement! That’s really a great work of art.

Have you tried blocking it yet to get it a tad bigger? That might give you a bit more ease. It’s such a beautiful sweater, it’d be a shame not to wear it all the time!

You should feel “at ease” with “your ease”.

(I’ll leave you to groan in silence now :)

Hadn’t blocked it yet. That would be fantastic if it made it a little bigger. Will be doing that before I go zipper shopping in case it changes the length too!

      Definitely had a smile and eye-roll. ;)

I’m so very impressed you managed to get this sweater done in 2 weeks…and it looks great! Hopefully it will block out a tad bigger so you feel a bit more comfortable with it.

Grafting in pattern is on my list of Very Important Things I Must Learn too!

    You look great, well done!
