Fastest Shawl

October 27, 2009

I now know that if I stick with one project, I can get it done in record time.  I got the yarn for this shawl at Oregon Flock and Fiber and got started right away.  The pattern I picked was Aeolian from Knitty, and beads were carefully shopped for.  I decided on hex beads in size 8 so that they would catch the light.

Now let me tell you, there are a ton of beads in this shawl!  I love knitting in beads, but I do think I’ve gotten my fill for awhile.

The hardest part about this shawl was blocking out the edging.  I actually didn’t do the right number of points (I think there are supposed to be 5?), but I like how it turned out anyway.  It would have been nice if there were some extra instructions in the pattern about blocking the points.

I finished this shawl, in about three weeks!  Talk about obsessed.  Although, it wasn’t nearly as fast as The Bon (she’s a crazy machine!) it was a record for me.

The shawl was for the lovely Celeste of Celestial Fiber Arts.  (Check out her bags!  They are the best!)  She helped me so much with wedding planning, hosting our shower.  Plus she has kept me fashionably accessorized.

Now on to the next lace project!  I told you I was obsessed with lace.

3 weeks?!! That is impressive. You must be an incredibly fast knitter. And patient! It is a beautiful shawl.

That is gorgeous! And what a feat to have that finished in such a short time. The color is really lovely too.
