Lavendriel – Finished!

September 7, 2007

I started this cardigan in March as a spring break project.  The pieces were done quickly, but the it sat unfinished for awhile.  Partially because it was just to hot to wear anything like this sweater.  Now that it’s starting to cool down, I’m looking forward to wearing it.

This is the front.  It’s full of cabley goodness and it was quick to knit up.

Always need a good picture of the buttons.  I got these at a local thrift store for 50 cents.

The back of the cardigan with the center panel.  This sweater was originally supposed to be two things; a sweater to knit while reading and a sweater to knit while in the hot tub.  The hot tub was for spring break in the vacation home we were staying in and reading was to have an easy knit to fill some time on the trip.  I know I heard you all gasp, “how would you take a knit into the hot tub!  Quick call the knitting police, this woman has committed yarn abuse!”  I will say, I didn’t actually take it into the hot tub, but the reason it would have been able to is it is made of craptastic acrylic and I love it all the same!

There I’ve admitted it! I do knit with Red Heart.  I wanted this sweater to be something that I could throw in the wash and it would be easy to take care of.  I cost me about $5 to make and I love it.  It keeps me warm, it’s not the softest, but neither is a lot of wool.  I am however thinking of knitting it again, in a nicer yarn to write and offer the pattern.  Any suggestions for yarn that is about the same weight as my beloved Red Heart?

If it weren’t so swelteringly hot, I’d ask for a modeled photograph ^_^

How about Cascade 220 or Cotton Fleece as a non-acrylic substitution?
