Ella’s Debut
We got a puppy! Her name is Ella and she has been a great addition to our house. We can probably officially get rid of our television, because between Jasmine and Ella our house is non-stop entertainment.
You get to see both our babies in this picture. Undoubtedly Anthony took this pic after telling her to leave Jasmine alone. So far we’ve had a two high speed chases, lots of hissing, and some swats, but no damage. Jasmine is curious about the Ella to, but definitely likes her own space. Since we are kennel training Ella, Jasmine gets free time around the house at night, when we’re away, and on occasional spurts during the day.
She is five months and 33 pounds, so she’s going to be a big dogie when she grows up. She is so mellow and has a great temperament. We sat with her for about an hour at Greenhill, and she was so calm. A little nervous, but we could tell she would fit in with us just right.
She went with us to a BBQ for the 4th yesterday, and did fine. She was able to hang out with lots of people, didn’t get bothered by fireworks, and didn’t beg for table scraps! Just this morning, she is figuring out how to play fetch and actually bring the ball back. So far she hasn’t tried to get into the yarn basket or chew on my spinning wheel, which makes this mommy very happy.
What a sweetheart! she is so cute :)
Oh. My.
Ella takes my breath away!
I just want to kiss her nosey.
what a beautiful puppy. you know i never thought about pets and spinning wheels. when i was little i was lucky in that my dogs didn’t hurt any of our furniture and my cat was quite well behaved as well. best of luck to the new parents and may the four of you have lots of fun together. :)
Ella is a great name, and she looks quite cute! Kudos to you for the crate training. It is a fabulous thing to do. And I will say from my recent experience with my German Shepherd, his worst chewing time started a few months past the 5 month age, and then continued for some time. We really had to stick to direct supervision, or in the crate. Every time we deviated from it, he chewed something that he was not supposed to have. But we did not freak out, as we felt it was our fault for allowing him to be out without watching him closely enough. Now he is only in at night and when we are out in the day. (Due to having other geriatric dogs, plus he is coming up on a hip replacement surgery, so needs to stay used to the crate for a while longer.)
She kinda reminds me of Frodo, the dog I had as a kid and young teenager. If she’s anything like Frodo, she’ll be one of the best dogs ever born. Oh, and sometimes it takes a claw to the nose a couple of times for everyone to get their boundaries established – then they’ll be best friends and collaborate to steal food off the counters. Our cat used to knock it down, then the dog would tear open the packaging, then they’d go nuts. In retrospect, it’s kind of funny.
She looks great! What a cozy little family.

Congratulations on your new doggie family addition. :) I am new to reading your weblog, but I very much enjoy it and look forward to keeping up to date with your posts. It’s always great to see another fellow “musician” online, who has so many varied interests. Kudos to you and all that you do. :)
