My Farm

May 9, 2007

When the sun is out and we are enjoying a nice Sunday working on the house, Anthony and I try to get outside in the garden for part of the evening.  I decided that this year I would try out not only keeping up the many flowers, shrubs and plants that already existed, but planting a small vegetable garden to enjoy.

That’s it!  It’s about 5′ x 6.5′.  That was actually taken awhile ago and more is planted now.  Here are the peas when I put them in.

They were so cute!  This is what they look like now.

I’m going to have to put up more string, because they have grown taller than my fence!

Here you can see other things, Kentucky Blue Beans, more Sugar Snap Peas, Purple Orach, and Arugulas.  Everything was planted by seed (some that I got for free at a seed swap) and I’m loving watching things come up.  I also have tomatillos and okra in the ground.  Plus several different Chilies and all sorts of herbs in starter pots.  I can’t wait for them to all start growing.

Not to brag too much, but it looks like the arugula is close to picking time! I’ll be sure to post more pics as things pop up.

Penny, I totally understand the apartment plant thing not working. It does get much easier with a house/sunlight/space. I could send you some peas…but they may be squishy by the time they got there.
