Yarn Harlot in Eugene
The Yarn Harlot was here! I have proof that I saw her speak!
Yup, I got to hold the traveling sock. Yes, that is her olympic sweater under my hand. It is so beautiful! Stephanie is just as hilarious in person as she is on the page. She knows the phyche of a knitter to the tee and she makes us knitters feel like we are the normal ones. Some of the things that I found particularily hilarious were;
- knitting is neither an art or a craft, it’s a sport! (see definition of sport)
- very smart people think that knitting is to hard (like a neurosurgeon).
- Anthony asked what her advice to a muggle that is involved with a knitter would be, and her advice was that I would never get tired of yarn as a gift. Too true, too true.
- People who don’t knit are muggles.
- Most of all, NEVER reveal the size of your stash if you don’t have to. No matter what, they won’t understand.
We had a great time, and I hope she enjoyed Eugene. I also got to meet several other bloggers that come by here. I met Irie from Irie knits, Lori from Yarn Beans, and Crissy from Knitknut. I also saw the fabulous Kim there and met her husband Tim. Now I want to go to Canada to hang out with the Harlot. Now that would be cool….
I got to hold the sock, too! I kind of wish I’d been taking notes or had a tape recorder or something, because I’ve been trying to remember all the funny stuff she said. It’s coming back to me in bits and pieces.
And I’m definately going to have to do the Knitting Olympics in 3 years. I’ll have team jersey(s) made or something.
That’s a great picture of you and Yarn Harlot. I’m going to see her next weekend after Knit Out NYC.
I’ll be doing the knitting olympics in three years too. This year was just crazy in Feb. so I couldn’t do it. It was great to see you there Crissy (even though I acted like a totall dork. I haven’t quite mastered the “how to act when you meet someone you know, but never met” thing) Maybe we can get together for coffee or something sometime. I swear I’m much better when I can just sit, chill and talk for awhile.
I really liked how this picture turned out. You’ll have a blast when you meet her Marla. She’s awesome.
That’d be cool. BTW, she’s updated her page, and you look fabulous!
Thanks Crissy! I saw that she was very sad she had to miss out on that massage. I really hope she comes to Eugene again, and has more time. I think she would really like it here.
