Friday Harbor Socks

July 9, 2006

I finished my Friday Harbor Socks! They are my first pair of socks completed for the Summer of Socks KAL. I got the pattern from Knitting on the Road by Nancy Bush. Overall, the pattern was really great, the second sock wasn’t too hard to start and finish, but the toe is a little weird. Its a round toe, something I hadn’t done before. I feel like it makes my feet look a little bit ducky. This is also my first pair of lacy socks.

Project Stats;
Needles: Audi Turbos US size 1
Yarn: Regia Cotton Color Surf – 41% superwash wool, 34% cotton, 25% Polyamide
Pattern: Friday Harbor
Started: 6/21/06
Finished: 7/5/06

    I think they came out really well! That looks like a tough pattern. Well-done! You should be proud. :-)

    I really like your socks! I’ve got the book as well and there are so many nice patterns in it!

    Those are really cute! I like that the lace pattern is bold enough that its not lost in the yarn varigation.

    I really liked this book, and if you’re looking for some sock patterns it is great. However, if you looking to make some of your own designs I would recommend Knitting Vintage Socks. You can choose your own toe and heel, plus it has some interesting stitch patterns.

    Leigh – I picked this yarn because the varigation was also subtle. My latest pair I’ve been struggling with the varigation and how to keep the pattern visible with all of the different colors going on.

    Thanks for all the nice comments!
