Dyed Roving and First Spinning
June 28, 2006
Look what I did!
Here are some close ups.
They turned out very different than I expected, but I like them both. I really enjoyed dyeing these and learned so much. I now feel much more confident in my dyeing abilities. I did felt them a little, especially the black one. I’ve been spinning that one though, and here’s how it’s turning out.
Consistancy is obviously an issue, but not to shabby huh?

The different thicknesses will just make the finished product just that more interesting. :)
Oh, I love the colors. Dyeing is a lot of fun. Except I dye wool, not the spinny stuff. I usually use kool-aid too. LOL! Yours turned out great. :)
Your yarn is beautiful!!! I’m Anthony’s friend Lauren’s sister (convoluted enough for you?) She has been telling me to check out your blog for a while now as I am also a fiber addict. I started knitting almost two years ago, and started weaving in February. I loved it so much that I bought a loom which is now occupying half of my living room!!!! I haven’t learned to spin or dye yet, they will come later when I have room for more equipment and money for more supplies… It’s nice to see that someone is as addicted as I am. If you are ever looking to sell some yarn, I woudl definitley be interested in buying. I love thick/thin yarn, I love varying colorways, deep rich colors are my favorites.I think that working with handmade yarn is the best.
Mmmmm, yummy roving. May I come over and play??
I can’t wait to see how it all turns out. I think I’ve decided to do a 3 ply and I may use it for whatever I’m knitting my One-Skein Secret pal. I have a ton of yarn I need to dye now, but it will have to wait for another time. To many other things to do right now.
Theresa, all blog friends are welcome to come play with roving any time.
What a wonderful job! Great colors!
