Meet My Amazing Lace Team
My amazing lace team has been a dream of mine for a long time. Well, for the past three months anyway, and we are glad to have the opportunity to lace along with the best of ’em.

Pattern: Print ‘o The Wave Stole from See Eunny Knit!
Needles: Size US 1 circulars
Yarn: Kid Merino from Crystal Palace Yarns (28% kid mohair, 28% merino wool, 44% micro Nylon)
I found the yarn back during my spring break trip to the coast. Maybe it was because I was staying on the ocean or maybe it was the excessive amount of wind and sand that got blown in to my ears and brain, but I decided to take on lace. I bought the wool (on sale) and took it back to have its necessary incubation in the stash.
Once I had thought about it long enough, found the pattern, read over Eunny’s tutorial on lace I finally decided to take up my pointy sticks and go for it. This is what I have so far.
Here it is again at a different angle;
I have now finished 13 repeats. This pattern starts out with two panels of 17 repeats so I’m feeling well on my way.
I’m addicted to lace now. To help feed my addiction, I recently went out and bought this.
These dyes are accompanied by two white dye your own lace weight skeins. I went from thinking that sock yarn was incredibly skinny to thinking “as long as it holds together, it’s knitable.”
However, I (like many other knitters out there) tend to be fickle. I will be in love with one project during one week and move on to the next another week. So there is no telling how long this love will last.
This lace stole has yet to find a home. I have a possible destination, but that would require finishing it by the beginning of July. (Eeeps!) It would go to a silent auction for a fund-raiser. This particular fund-raiser, The Erin Trujeque Memorial, is near and dear to my heart. The proceeds go to the University of New Mexico Children’s Hospital Children’s Cancer Fund. This was the hospital I was diagnosed and treated at for osteosarcoma, bone cancer, when I was thirteen. Everything about this stole is saying that this little part of Oregon (the ocean) needs to make it to New Mexico, my hometown. What am I doing typing?! I need to get knitting.

I’ve always been curious about the Crystal Palace yarn as a substitute for KidSilk Haze, but have found it’s not available in Australia (well, I think there is one stockist with a limited coour range). What is like to knit with?Â
Your stole looks lovely so far, that wool is such a lovely colour and looks so soft. I hope that you manage to finish in time for the auction, I’m sure it would raise a lot of money.
Jasmine is always so good. She just sits on my lap while I’m knitting. We occasionally have to argue over who the yarn belongs to, but this occasions are rare.
I’ve never knit with Kid Silk Haze, so I don’t really know what the difference is like. The nylon is the core and the fiber tends to shift around on the nylon. It never comes away from the nylon, but it occasionally bunches up. Does Kidsilk do that at all? Mostly, I’m a knitter on a tight budget so I usually start on the cheaper side and work my way up. This was my first lace project so next time I’ll probably be willing to splurg a little more.
If you were putting a lace stole out for a silent auction, what would you put for the value?

Erin Trujeque was my first real crush in 6th and 7th grade (twenty years ago- ACK!) I am so glad to see his memoroal fund is still going strong. He was a sweetie and he touched a lot of hearts. I’m glad you made it through your treatment!
I think your yarn is a gorgeous color. I’m a knitter too but I doubt I have anything nice enough to put in the auction. Though it does inspire me to do something else, so thank you…
This is one of the reasons I’ve enjoyed blogging so much, connecting with people.
I actually didn’t finish the shawl for the Golf tournament, but I could donate it this year. It’s still not finished (very close) and is sitting waiting for attention. Not until after Christmas though.
