Black Sheep Gathering
March 16, 2006
I’ve got all the information on the Black Sheep Gathering here in Eugene. It’s going on June 23 – 25 and they have all sorts of great classes offered. They also have various competitions for the serious knitter/spinner/sheep herder. I will definitely be at this woolly event. Even if I don’t get a chance to take any classes, the atmosphere alone will be enough to learn a lot from.

Do you happen to know if there is an admission charge to go into the vendor area?
Guess I’d better dig up my haggis recipe…
Alpha, I don’t know if there is an admission charge, but when I find out I’ll be sure to post it here. I’m just really excited to be around that many sheep geeks.
Anthony, I’m not sure that they will let you take any sheep guts. These people like their sheep alive and producing wool. We can make haggis, but you’ll have to find another source for the sheepy parts.
My mom might have leftover sheep guts later on in the year…over in Curry County, though. I don’t know when the extra sheep get culled. I do know to expect a full freezer when it happens, though.
I thought you might appreciate this picture from my mom’s farm; Wool on the Hoof:

Have you made Haggis? I went to Scotland and I was to chicken to try, which is very unusual for me. I think it had something to do with being in high school and not being completely comfortable around the people I was traveling with.
I love the photo! It’s so cute! Maybe someday I’ll get to have my own little lamb to get wool from.
