Knitted Hairy Coo
Say hello to Angus Xavier MacDonald!
This is the Hairy Coo that I knitted Anthony for Christmas. I know it’s long after Christmas, and I have been a slacker on posting pictures, but I definitely think this was worth waiting for. Plus Angus did such a nice modeling job.
I got the pattern from Kath Dalmeny’s world of knitted toys which was a cute book of animals from around the world. A good tip for frugal knitters, look for books at your local library. If you live in Eugene, they have a pretty good selection and are working on getting more all the time. I’m not a huge fun fur fan (that’s kind of fun to type) but this was a good excuse to use it. I used on strand of fun fur and one strand of DK yarn. You can’t see them, but there are some plastic animal eyes in there. It was a lot of fun, and it’s one of the few things I get to see used after I make it.
That is too cool! It reminds me of a buffalo…

They are shaggy like a buffalo, but shaped more like a cow. I have a few pictures of them from when I went to Scotland. I’ll try to post one soon.
That is a very cool hairy coo!
Well done, I know that I possess no skill that would let me create something as intricate as that. :-)
They’re kinda funny-looking, especially with all the hair in their eyes. She did a hell of a job on Angus – it makes me grin, seeing him guarding my bookshelves.
I declare John and Anthony the Hairy Coo experts, having actually seen the real animal. I must have done something right to get compliments from such Coo experts. I thought you guys just ignored my knitting posts. :)
You did a real good job with that little guy! When I found this, I realized how well you did:

To anyone who has never seen a Hairy Coo, you must check out ryan’s link! It’s a great picture. Thanks ryan.
Angus is actually an ancestral name in my family as well.
How did you come up with this name?
